    Yet another example of the madness of software patents.

      Can someone explain what this is, for those of us who have never used a PlayStation?

        I had no idea this was or even could be patented, but basically the memory card menu appeared on boot if you didn’t insert a disk (or pressed start during boot I think) and it just showed you a menu screen with some cool 3D shapes in the background. The cool 3D shapes also represented your available space on the card, which was more of an Easter egg for the keen-eyed kids than anything.

          GParted in 3D is now legal

            … in countries that allow software to be patented. Some countries - for example, New Zealand, exclude software from patents, meaning 3D GParted should always have been legal there.
