    While this is a cool proof of concept, for production usage I would vastly recommend the original magic-wormhole utility. It does still depend on a third-party service, but in a provider-independent fashion.

    In the future, perhaps there will be a globally-available capability-secure content-addressed namespace that facilitates this sort of technique where, rather than a point-to-point “wormhole”, the data is first pinned into the firmament and then retrieved from thin air.

      Your data is encrypted on the sender’s machine, using gpg […] Once encrypted, your data is made available to others from your machine using IPFS.

      No form of encryption is secure forever. When encrypted data is made available to everybody it can be stored and decrypted in future.

      Your private data could be still relevant in 3 or 4 decades.

        This is awesome .. now pack it up into a library that can be used in a mobile app and we’re good to go. :)

          Honestly for private file transfers you are probably better off just spinning up a quick web server with a password. The only useful thing I can think of here is if you want to privately share a large file with multiple people
