I wouldn’t normally submit tech fluff but I think this is a pretty big thing.

I’ve been using a Pebble watch recently and I was looking forward to leaving my phone in my pocket more so every time it buzzes with an e-mail, I can just glance at my wrist. The novelty wore off after a week and now I don’t even wear the watch anymore. Maybe it would be different for something on my head, or maybe it would be different when the device is capable of doing so much more than just displaying a notification. If you can get directions and look things up and make reminders to yourself and make hands-free phone calls, what do we even need mobile phones for other than to be a wireless hot spot?

I think one of the biggest reasons this could be a success is it can present information without being distracting. You don’t need to pull out some gizmogadgetron or glance down at your wrist. The information is just there. I think one of the interesting implications is when we get used to just-there information and what happens if it ever gets taken away (information withdrawals)?
