I enjoy reading these progress reports. The open and honest style is fantastic.
A lot of it reminds me of my own work on drivers (less hardware hacking but lots of head scratching moments as well). Developing drivers eats up so much time that I would never spend even more time writing about it at length.
Wow, the author fell down quite a rabbit hole! Glad to see purism putting in effort on this front.
That said, there were an enormous number of binary blobs involved, so I’m not very optimistic that we’ll have a fully open puri.sm laptop anytime soon.
I now have coreboot with the proper descriptor, ME regions, VBIOS, MRC.bin (and refcode), but I don’t know yet why it still doesn’t boot.
