    More interesting than the Wayland and WebGL support for me is this bit:

    Merged yesterday were the Firefox Wayland patches for VA-API video acceleration support in conjunction with FFmpeg.

    Maybe this will finally bring accelerated video playback to Firefox on Linux and it will stop YouTube videos from burning through battery like there’s no tomorrow. (Yes I know about the ways to offload video playback to accelerated players like mplayer).

      This is the one thing that might actually finally make me move to Wayland. I’m kinda tired of Chromium’s seemingly random design decisions (which I have to use for vaapi support).

        I assure you, Firefox is not doing any better on that front.

      Firefox 75 due to be released next month should finally have its native Wayland support in good order.
