    This is my own bias speaking, but when I see “AI,” I usually expect a morass of machine learning. With the problem statement — “make a convenient checkout flow” — I almost didn’t read the rest of the article, since using ML for that seemed like trying to swat a fly with a nuclear submarine.

    But it’s not! It’s using a clever, elegant old technique that I was only familiar with being used in videogame programming, and that has nothing to do with ML. I was surprised and delighted.
