So, Uber decided to pay bribes to the assailants, and hide the fact that they were hacked?! And it’s all under an NDA, I gather, so, no worries?!

On the one hand, that’s an applaudable bug-bounty programme.

But on the other, at this point, I don’t think any sort of mafia-like behaviours of Uber should come as any surprise to anyone.

Their AWS access codes were stored in their private GitHub? I’d not expected that. 🤔

Edit: For the record, this is what I’m talking about: https://www.wired.com/story/uber-settles-with-ftc-again-this-time-over-2014-privacy-breach/

After all, it gives the FTC oversight over the company’s privacy and security practices for 20 years.

          So much for that, then.

How did Ashley Madison end? Their site seems to still be up, I haven’t heard of any huge fines being administered to them? Did anyone go to jail?

It will be the same thing over again, a bit of media fuss for a week or two. Then silence and perhaps some mid-level managers kicked out with a fat bonus on their way out.
