        Well not exactly - the two articles complement each other. If you read only one, I suggest this one as it gives more context and hints about future changes to MRI.

          My rules for memoization:

          1. It should be an expensive operation
          2. It may or may not need to be instantiated

          I appreciate the detail about some of the optimizations under the covers - I never considered it at that level.
