Great post, Steve. I wonder if striation may actually be the thing to save us more than smoothness (I may have misunderstood the distinction though, so please bear with me). What I mean is that it seems you (and Deleuze) paint smooth space as an ideal and striation as an evil or at least something to be avoided. However, it is precisely striation which would allow a community to form. If a space were purely smooth, only nomads exist, but in a sense, there needs to be some fixedness and continuity (smooth striation?) to keep something together. I think that’s what you started to touch on at the end of the post when you talked about paid vs. free use of a product, but perhaps not. Anyway, thanks for a great read!
