I thought it would say “f***ing never use inline values” and that would be the whole article, but it actually made a good argument for certain situations where they make sense. I learned something!
They missed the most important reason for not using string manipulation: It makes you feel dirty.
Tfw I discovered that even when you use the fancy query construction classes hidden inside ActiveRecord, it produces escaped SQL strings, not proper parameter passing. Dirty. (RoR 3, but I’m not expecting it to have changed)
