It may be just me, but the storybook style writing comes across as condescending. I read this in my mind in much the same way a parent reads something to a child. Sure, Alice and Bob are used all the time to describe interactions in networks and particularly cryptography. When reading this, it felt very much like the author was trying to talk down to someone in particular.

Message received. Be cordial. Be respectful in your criticisms. Be very much aware of your tone when responding to someone. Don’t talk down to your audience. If everyone is respectful, more work will get done. It results in a happier workplace because constructive criticism is received constructively.

It’s probably the old meme (from back when that would find a place on Wikipedia) https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Be_like_Bill

How is wikipedia still incapable of redirecting me to the desktop version of Wikipedia automatically on desktop?

Hmmm. I didn’t take it that way, I thought they just wanted to be specific but general, and stories are a great way to do that.

But, different strokes for different folks, as they say.
