$WORK:
Proposals for an upcoming developer gathering on decoupled
architecture and APIs for large-scale content providers,
in our case public broadcasting corporations. We’ve successfully
implemented headless Drupal and want to explore the option of reversing
the decoupling, utilizing external data sources in the Drupal data model
and editorial tools.
$FUN:
Optimizing my custom keyboard layout based on Dvorak, Space Cadet
keyboard modifiers and overall Vim-friendliness. X11 works (as always),
but OS X gets slightly confused when switching between internal and
external keyboards, resulting in different characters yielded by the
same keystrokes.
Sigh.
$WORK: Switching jobs, handing over projects.
Fun: Prototyping a safe haven for badly structured/maintained public data sources by scraping/cleaning and providing web services instead.
Also, something as unsexy as a RSS cleaner, weeding out semi-duplicated items across a set of RSS feeds from different sources (e.g. news articles from several news agencies regarding the same subject)
Cleaning up seems to be the theme of this week…
Vacation time is reading time.
In order of recommendation,
My reading decreased significantly after replacing the old-school Kindle with text-to-speech support with a newer model lacking this. Having vivid stories about rogue AIs and narrated by a highly robotic synthetic voice added a certain edge.
